Frequently Asked Questions

Some common questions I get asked by clients.

Do you register domain names?

No. Registering a domain name is a straightforward process that anyone can do. It makes sense for the domain name to be in your name and under your ownership. I recommend using the registrar NameCheap, or through whichever hosting provider you choose for web hosting.

Do you host the websites you create?

No. I ensure each client signs up for an appropriate web hosting plan under their own name, so that they take full ownership of the site. In the future if they decide to use another designer/developer, they are not tied down to me.

Do you only create websites using WordPress?

I do prefer to use WordPress, however if you have a request to use another CMS or no CMS at all, that is not a problem.

I have as much experience hard coding websites, and even web applications such as kaampus.coma, as I do in WordPress. So whatever the project requires I can handle.

What if I don’t like the design you create? Can I request a revision?

Yes. I don’t have a limit on how many revisions can be requested up until the project end date. Once the website has been launched, there is a set period of time in which I will allow for more revisions. After this time further revisions will be charged for. A website won’t be launched until the client is happy with the design.

This never happens in practice as I don’t simply go off designing a whole website without any input from the client.

Will my website work on mobiles?

Yes. I follow responsive web design practices, meaning they adapt to any device size. Tablets, phones, desktops etc. For example, if you resize your browser window now you will see how my website adjusts to the reduced width.

Do you create fast websites?

Yes. I am almost obsessed with creating websites that have fast loading times. It’s super important for providing a great user experience to your users.

It is also extremely important for SEO nowadays, as a slow website provides an awful experience to your visitors, which Google now recognises and will penalise you for.

Can you build web applications?

Yes. I’m a web developer with a Computer Science degree and a long background in programming.

Please get in touch if you are looking for a web application developer, and we can discuss further the requirements of your project.

For an example of my work, please see Kaampus.

How much do you charge?

My standard rate is £25 per hour.

However, most projects will have a flat rate agreed upon in advance. This completely depends on the type of project and timeline needed for completion.

Are you available for new projects?

Please shoot me a message and we can talk! My availability is always changing, with free slots opening up all the time.

This is my full time job so I will respond within the same day, or next day if your enquiry is sent after regular working hours.

Can I hire you to do work that isn’t a brand new website?

Yes. Depending on what you need doing I can probably help.

Redesigns make up a large portion of the projects I take on. Most businesses these days already have a website, but it may be 10 years out of date. Or, they may just need a reliable freelance web developer to code some new functionality or fancy animations into their site.

If your website is broken/hacked I can help with this also. Get in touch and I can see what I can do for you.

Do you offer SEO services?

Yes. Along with carrying out proper SEO during development (on-page optimisation), I also offer other further SEO services. From SEO consultations and audits, to content marketing and off-page optimisation (backlinks etc.). For more information, contact me.

Do you offer maintenance services?

Yes. If you do not wish to run your website (every website must be constantly maintained,) or learn WordPress, I provide a maintenance service.

It includes reporting of visitor data from Google Analytics, SEO reporting, upgrading of WordPress and plugins, and improvements to your website’s performance and code.

WordPress plugins and WordPress itself are constantly being updated, and ignoring these updates will open up your site to hackers through vulnerabilities. For peace of mind you can have someone like me ensure your site is running the best it can do 24/7.

Can you set up social media for us?

Yes. Social media is important for any business, and I can get you set up with profiles that incorporate your website’s branding on all the major social media platforms.

It’s not as simple as creating a profile and uploading a logo either. I will ensure each profile is properly optimised for SEO, helping boost your sites rankings in Google even further.
